Need to fix a broken window? Maybe more than one?
At Manatee, we’ve been in the real estate business for quite some time in Bradenton and Sarasota, and we’ve had our fair share of broken windows to repair.
The good news? If you’re handy, you can likely tackle this repair yourself!
Here’s a quick guide to get you started (assuming it’s just the glass that needs replacing):
- Remove the Sash — This step will make the whole process easier. Take out the window sash so you can lay it flat while you work on it.
- Remove Broken Glass — Safety first! Put on some heavy-duty gloves and carefully remove all the glass. If any pieces are stuck, a heat gun can soften the material and help loosen them.
- Measure — Measure the height, width, and thickness of the old glass. Take these measurements to a home improvement store to get the right replacement glass.
- Insert Glass — Clean the window frame, apply new glazing, carefully set the replacement glass, and then finish by painting the window frame if needed.
And that’s it! If this seems like too much or too tricky, don’t hesitate to call a professional.
